Flowers

Calendula

The world can be challenging. There is a lot that does not make sense. It can help to have a reminder of the enduring beauty that exists, despite many of the difficulties that exist in human societies. Like flowers in sunshine.

Flower and Owl

I have been posting, and usually post more often on my blog at OlyBlog.net. For example please check out a link about redefining poverty, here: olyblog.net/challenging-traditional-ideas-about-wealth-and-poverty. Here are some flowers and an owl:

Beautiful Flowers on a Gorgeous Summer Evening

Flowers at Fertile Ground
Wednesday 28 July 2010
Fertile Ground, Olympia, Cascadia—These are some of the beautiful flowers in the garden at Fertile Ground where POWER (Parents Organizing for Welfare and Economic Rights) held a panel discussion report-back on the US Social Forum. It was a lively evening with a great discussion. Thank you to POWER!

A Couple Pretty Flowers

Sometimes it helps to have something beautiful and inspiring to look at. Sometimes the insanity and irrationality, the confusion that sometimes prevails in this world, makes it necessary to escape, to flee, to find a place of solace and beauty—away from the horror and terror of a world where people kill, and lie, and cheat, and steal. There's more information about my experience with this troubling world, here, in a blog I posted to OlyBlog.

Here are a couple flowers, for contrast. Imagine how awesome the world could be. Heaven or hell. We have a choice.

I think that it's time to start demanding heaven!

Beautiful Flowers / Facebook

If you know me well enough, then you probably know that I am somewhat of a habitual Internet user. Facebook is part of my habit. I post a lot on my Facebook page. For some time I had my Facebook settings so that anyone could see my page. Then I changed it around for a while. Now it is back to where Facebook users can see a lot of my page without necessarily being a contact. Here's a link to my page: http://www.facebook.com/rfwwhitlock

On another topic, here are some beautiful flowers.

There is Beauty All Around

Even in a world that is diseased with violence - wars, and environmental degradation, labor exploitation, etc. - there is beauty all around. Even in war zones, flowers bloom.

Night Flower

Yesterday was incredible! It felt like Spring. It was almost 60º and sunny! It looked like it might rain in the morning, there were some dark and low clouds over the Black Hills. But as the day went on, it just got sunnier and warmer, and more calm. It was beautiful.

Here's a photo from last Spring.
